SYG has just performed an air test after only being out of action for a week.
I seem to recall a mention last year from SQ that by the end of the current financial year, another 777-300 would be returned to a lessor. This caused some speculation as to which one, as although we knew SYK was leased and duly left, nobody had any info on which was the other leased 773.

I'm wondering why the refurbishment of the 772/773s with the 2006 Y and IFE are happening in such a sporadic manner. 2 SR/SQs here, 2 SYs there, 1 SV as well.. I would've thought it'd be a bit more systematic and less of a let's-see-what-I-get-if-I-fly-this-type.

I'm happy to hear that SQ is also retrofitting their 772 with the 2006 77W Y product rather than letting them go to waste if they feel they will be staying longer. Interesting why would they keep a 773 on the ground for 7 weeks with no sign of retrofitting them.
For the 77Ws, SWG was out for 4.5 weeks so if it had entered revenue service before it reaches 6 weeks most of the time it is not considered a refit. i found it very misleading when SWG was recorded as SQ8877 (Common for planes that are retrofitted). Either it doesn't do a test flight or does it as SQ8895 instead. I do know SWF has been out since Feb 15 and 6 weeks have already passed thus it sounds more like a 77WR refit to me. Sometime after next week it should hopefully hatch.

A week without flying, an air test, then no return to flying. All this happening just a little time before the end of the financial year. If it was a refit or heavy maintenance, the air test usually happens just prior to a return to revenue service.

SYK was returned last FY to a lessor and another was meant to go this FY so there's the answer.
