                Maybe I've been conditioned to be clobbered by BA/BD with high surcharges/taxes for awards but I was very pleasantly surprised to find with the new BAEC that a booking I made last night for a last-minute weekend trip to LIN leaving tomorrow only costs a total of 4,500 miles and £77.

                I saved £147 on the cash only price and I'd still be substantially up if (e.g.) I purchased the 4,500 miles from BA now.

                Yes, it's Y but with status (check-in and lounges), only 1-night away (so limited hand luggage) and great Italian food (why fill up on the plane ?), intra-Europe BA J really makes no difference.
