That evening, our first evening in Noboribetsu, we experienced our first tremor in Japan.

This hotel had an awesome onsen -- apparently the largest in Hokkaido.



This onsen had 35 baths spread out over 5000 sq meters...

There were many different hotel wings, as the hotel and been build and extended multiple times over the years. Many different room types were also available,...

We stayed at the Dai-ichi Takimotokan, one of the largest resorts there, and also the location of the largest onsen in Hokkaido.

Our next stop, just a short 50 minute drive away, was Noboribetsu, the location of one of the most, if not the most, well known spa town in Hokkaido....

We had a great stay at the Lake View Toya Nonokaze Resort. The onsen was superb, and the rooms and in-hotel dining spectacular. I would highly recommend...

Apart from enjoying the onsen at the hotel, it was also possible to take a boat cruise on the lake.

At breakfast time, the views from the main dining hall were even more stunning, now that the lake was visible out of the full length windows...

I work up early the next morning to savour sunrise views of the lake from our hotel room...
