  • PPS Solitaire Privileges-SQ should change

Singapore Airlines boasts of its privileges for PPS Solitaire Members in being able to use their First Class lounges around the world including Singapore. Quote "The First Class section of Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris Lounges worldwide is yours to use, regardless of your class of travel whenever you travel on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir".
There are two concerns: 1) I find that SQ is phasing out on a lot of their own lounges worldwide, resulting in the use of codeshare partner lounges which does NOT give you the use of the First Class lounges.
    2) The New First Class lounge in Terminal 3 in Singapore is not really a First Class lounge but one that has been cleverly disguised as a First Class lounge. The real First Class lounge is in another hidden section where only First Class passengers are personally escorted to.
PPS Solitaire members did not ask for this privilege so why is SQ trying to insult our intelligence by doing this, not least give First Class Passengers the chance to treat us "second class"? It's not a big deal to sit in First Class lounges, but SQ should at least be more respectful of the people who support them fully even if not by flying First Class - at least enough to chalk up Solitaire Status. Com'on SQ, grow up!! If you cannot afford it, then do not give it. You do yourself a real injustice by acting like this and can get caught up with what we can believe in what you say. In some countries, this is a conscience act of "false advertising"

It depends on how one looks at it. I tend to see a more developed form of the lounge development. The TPC has personalized service and the items on the menu are more refined than previous First although I believed Krug or DP is probably not on the drink list. Personally felt the T3 First Class lounge is better than any previously in Singapore.

I agreed that the phasing out of the Krisflyer lounges worldwide is a dilution of the overall premium travel experiences. The one lounge I missed was the one at Incheon and the Asiana lounge comes no where near it in my opinion. The deletion of the PVG lounge was another one that was replaced by a lower standard Shanghai Airlines Lounge. We paid for the SQ's experiences and not Shanghai Airline or Asiana experiences.

Not probably, Krug & DP are not available in Private Room Too. They have a cheaper champagne though. The same one they served in Business Class.

What? They don't have lounge in Shanghai too? I'm flying to Shanghai next week. Looks like the cost cutting measure are now in high gear.

LionCity... You have basically summed up the situation perfectly. We pay for the SQ experience and we should expect it... Why should we use the lounges of Shanghai Airline or Asiana's?? All the same, PPS club or Solitaire is not that "great" a scheme compared to many others, eg United, BA, etc.. If SQ PPS does not deliver I will walk with my feet. I now enjoy BA services more.... Sure they do have those "pretty ladies", but who cares??? There are better ones on the ground!!!

          Narita being a counter-example.

Good to hear that Narita is a counter example and an upgrade from the previous Silver Kris. Will be using it as part of my flight schedule within the next 7 months.

Not quite sure what mean by "counter example". During my trip last Sep, for J class SQ at Narita, it's the Ana Lounge, which isn't much. Very standard stuff. A far cry from SilverKris at T3 Changi.

I think what Kiwi meant was that Solitaire pax are given F lounge access (when travelling J or Y) even though there is no more Silver Kris Lounge anymore.

Ok. Sigh...I am not TPPS nor in F so won't be using that lounge. Otherwise will be a better all round experience.

Does anyone else know of this "counter example" whereby access to First class is available round the world on SQ destinations?? Probably not!!

I agree that if one thinks that SQ is not delivering to one expectations it is better vote with one's wallet and move on. That is the best way to response to the perceived drop in standard. To be honest, I rather stick with SQ's "pretty ladies" than the "Aunties" from BA. I have been called "son" before and as an Asian, I do find I get better service/respect on Asian airlines. But I am glad you enjoyed BA's service and found it to be the right airline for you.

BA for me. I prefer the aunties because they are motherly and much warmer. I feel more comfortable with their direct approach.

I guessed I am not the "Auntie" type and must be 7 years itch getting into me!

How about the other gender? Do you prefer "Uncle type" or the "Brother" type onboard service?

When I see Mrs LionCity, I must warn her to keep a close watch on you, you naughty man!

Uncles of course. They are more experienced.

Seriously, I must admit, I don't really notice if they're uncles or brothers. It seems there are more uncles than brothers on all the airlines I fly with. Very strange.
