  • F Redemption Booking Hassles

    Hello all

I encountered another SQ Website Booking Engine anomaly today.
    I'm trying to book 2 F Savers SIN-LAX.
    Availability shows up as Waitlist.

So I checked individually SIN-NRT and NRT-LAX on the same day, and yup, you guessed it, both sectors come up with 2 F Savers available!

Can anyone shed light on this?
F all the way. Settle for J. Usually whY. Sigh.

    And to continue....

Being not happy at all with this, I called KF services in Singapore, and explained at great length the problem I have found, and that I really need this booking as I have already booked and confirmed the LAX-SIN leg.

And you guessed it again, the person I spoke to tried to "explain" about availability, and how sometimes one can just miss out etc etc etc but not really addressing my issue. Best he could do was to advise me to waitlist as there are no other pax waitlisted for the 2 complete legs.
Sheesh. So what else could I do, but waitlist.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get my waitlist confirmed?

BTW, I am not PPS or KFEG, just lowly (I guess) KFES.

    TIA

Ah, but don't forget, one of the real perks of KFES is you do get priority on the waitlist.

Also make sure to get screenshots showing saver availability for the separate sectors. And follow up your telephone query with a written one.

Having the same problem with F savers, seems like the Jokers in SQ only will confirm your WL 3 or 4 days before your flight. that will surely keep you on your toes for some time.
I still dont understand why booking 2 F savers is such a big deal for SQ.

        Good luck.

Confirming 3 or 4 days before the flight would be just awful.
I'd be a nervous wreck well before then.
Indoman_il, do you have any status on SQ eg Gold,PPS?
I'm just trying to gauge if the waitlist is confirmed earlier if one has some status.

Thanks for the tip,B727. In fact I did take screen shots at the time.
I'll send off a letter tomorrow. Do you reckon I should email as well?

I'm not really sure how this Priority Waitlist works and if it is effective....
I'm a lowly Silver, with no-one else on the Waitlist.
What if a PPS comes along now, and wants the same seat I waitlisted for, do they get it before me? Who really takes priority, and in what chronological order?

            This is married segment availabilities.

I have seen the reverse, i.e. SIN-LAX is available while neither SIN-NRT nor NRT-LAX is available. The computer treats SIN-NRT, NRT-LAX and SIN-LAX as three separate flights. It is frustrating but really nothing new. There are a lot of threads on TOF about it.

Not much you can do but to waitlist. The chances of waitlist clearing is very good.

No, not a snail mail letter. Email, of course

Precisely what it is. Point of sale restrictions.

I had a similar situations and after enough calls they simply just manually cleared the segments for me .

                    Update

I received a confirmation email today that my 2 waitlisted F Savers are now available - just over 2 weeks after my initial request.

As advised by B727, I did send an email to Krisflyer services at the same time, and received a reply (essentially, you'll just have to wait) just a day ago. A bit disappointed that the reply took so long to come, albeit with an apology for the tardiness.

But here's the kicker, and it's not SQ's fault, I may have to change those dates....I don't think I'm up to another round of uncertainty though !

I've been in this situation before ... Have waitlisted 2 seats on F or J-saver as the case may be .... and confirmed 2 seats on J or J-standard etc, as the case may be

Closer to the dates, if your WL becomes available, just cancel your backup seats as the penalty is 3,000 miles per person which is not too bad a price to pay for some peace of mind

Yeah, I typically don't redeem until I'm absolutely sure I'm traveling--hate to see my hard-earned miles go toward cancelation penalties.

There was one time when I was on a waitlist that they called me when it cleared before they issued the redemnption certificate.

Have tried that, even on the different flight but on the same date.
Not to long then, KF emailed me to remind me that I have a duplicate booking, and must cancel one of them immediately. Ignore them, they called me and suggest me to cancel the unissued booking, because it's not allowed to have a duplicate booking. Even as I explained to them, that I'll canceled my J ticket as soon as I got confirmed on F booking. Thay said KF won't cleared the F one, because I already have an issued ticket on that route on that date.

I have cancelled redemption bookings in the past.
The choice given (on-line) was to pay the fee in miles or cash.
The cash amount was I think US$15 per pax.
I chose cash, as I too do not want to lose my hard earned miles.
US$15 seems small in the scheme of things.

Called KF Services again today to change the departure date.
Unfortunately, only 1 F Saver is available on that date, and as I need 2, I am waitlisted again.
I pleaded with them to release another seat, but the person said they could not do it. Sigh.

Do you think my chances are good?
