  • A380 Flight Zurich today cancelled

Today's A380 flight from Zurich to Singapore has been cancelled due to a failure on the control mechanism. Over 400 passengers are stranded now.
    It's the 9V-SKC aircraft.
Now they make control checks on the aircraft and probably tomorrow the empty A380 plane will fly back Singapore Changi Airport.

It looks now that they have problems with many A380 planes.
Does anybody know the registration of the plane which had smoke in the toilet (Hong Kong-Singapore) ?

Strange, why it is not service at the nearest available country/airport?

The flight from Zurich to SIN was cancelled because of a fault in the rudder control system. Apparently, the a/c was grounded for several days in Zurich for the problem to be fixed before the a/c was flown back to Singapore. The incident was mentioned in an article "Dark clouds hang over 'queen of the sky' " in yesterday's Singapore Sunday Times.

Another SQ 346 today was delayed for 7 hours due to the scheduled A380 had some technical fault again, another A380 had to be used and they used the one coming back from Paris (SQ 333).

I'm guessing the only reason these delays are happening is because the A380 fleet is running very tight at the moment and there are no spares lying around. I'm sure these incidents happen regularly on the other fleet types as well and swaps can easily be made in such cases, but not on the A380 fleet at the moment unfortunately.
