  • SQ 872/871 today being operated by A330

Is this the first time an A330 by SQ is operating to HKG? Just for today, not sure the reason though.

Might be one of the original retrofit 772s not able to make it back in time to Sin or a technical fault.

      From 27/3/2011:
      Daily SQ866 SIN-HKG 17:15 B777-200>B777-300ER
      Daily SQ865 HKG-SIN 18:30 B777-200>B777-300ER

      Daily SQ872 SIN-HKG 18:50 B777-200>A330-300 ... but after dark
      Daily SQ871 HKG-SIN 19:55 B777-200>A330-300

In summary, SQ will serve with the following updated products to HKG:
      3x daily SIN-HKG-SIN B777-300ER
      1x daily HKG-SFO-HKG B777-300ER
1x daily left for SIN-HKG-SIN B777-200 (overnight and morning departure from HKG only, have a feeling that this will also be altered with A330-300 soon)
      1x daily SIN-HKG-SIN A380-800
      1x daily SIN-HKG A330-300

            SQ871/872 A333 from 27 MAR 2011

            SQ865/866 77W from 1 MAY 2011

Is there any route using 77W will change equipment from 1 MAY? Otherwise where is the 77W come from?

As some of us estimated SQ subs the 77W out of HKG except SQ1/2 for the new routes, but now is the opposite

Wondering how many spare 77W are there sitting around. Because the haneda route are operated by 77W as well.

Indeed, and not to mention the new South American route will also be a 77W

For SFO, I think there aren't many other options, considering its length. Either it gets operated by a 747 again, or they send A380s.

I should imagine they will be coming from routes that will be replaced when new A380's are delivered.

The A380 deliveries next year actually are 1-1 swaps for the 744s on 12/11

You probably forgot when SQ1/2 was flying on 744 in the last 20 years, once the 744 arrived at SIN around noon time, it will be ready for turn around back to HKG again for SQ866 departing at 13:30, when SQ865 back to SIN around 22:00, it will be ready for departing to those European destinations, so it won't be surprise to see they are adopting 77W on SQ866/865.

The reason I can be for sured & confirmed that as many times when I flown SQ 744 on SQ1, after it landed at SIN, I requested for photos with the cockpit crew / 1st class cabin crew, & they always kept telling me that do it quick quick quick, after all the passengers disembark, & right before the catering coming to make a mess for ready for the flight SQ866 to HKG again.
