  • What Would You Do?

Right now I am in J for JFK-FRA-SIN on SQ 25/26. I just saw there is another flight that has been added SQ 325 from FRA-SIN. I already have a 20 hour layover from SIN-JNB so I can take half my layover in FRA instead. I saw that the other route is the 777-300 ER and obviously the business class is better but I am not sure if JFK-FRA-SIN equipment will change. What would you do to maximize your J experience if you were flexible?

SQ325/326 has been in existence for a couple of years....

I think ASUDan130 meant to ask whether:

      JFK-FRA SQ25 744 then FRA-SIN SQ325 77W would be better than SQ25 JFK-FRA-SIN?

thereby splitting transit time between FRA and SIN

Well, two comments: first, don't assume that the equipment on SQ 25 will change anytime soon; second, what are you going to do at FRA for 11 hours between the arrival of SQ 25 and the departure of SQ 325? If you're thinking of wandering around FRA, or hanging out in the LH Biz lounge, think again: as a rule, crowded and uncomfortable everywhere.

If you exit the airport, and take the train into town, it might be more worth a stop....but even so, Frankfurt is not exactly a tourist mecca. I'd spend the extra time in Singapore.

There is generally no change in equipment on JFK-FRA-SIN. The same aircraft coming from Frankfurt goes on to Singapore after a one-hour layover, unless it runs into problems. If it's your first time in Frankfurt, you may want to take the train to the city centre - Go shopping in Zeil Street or something. However, note that 11 hours aren't a terribly long time to visit too many places, yet are long enough to bore you in an airport that isn't too interesting. It's your call.

I'd go straight through - FRA airport isn't the best place in the world to hang out.

Unless one happens to fly on LH F

Even then.... I've spent 10 hours in the FCT - not sure it was entirely all that much fun because of the lack of other human contact. It was almost like solitary confinement (albeit with the trappings, bells and whistles)

Even I'd say 10 hrs in the LH FCT/FCL B would be dead boring... 10 hrs is, however, sufficient for me to quickly pop into town and I'd pick that over staying at the airport... or best, split it 60-40, one hour for transport to and fro, five hours in town, four hrs chillaxing at the airport.

If no FCT/FCL, it'd be a tough call between finding a transit hotel or going into town for a good 8 hours..

Unless ASUDan130 has business or pleasure in SIN during the 20 hour layover to the SIN-JNB flight, I can only comment the he/she must love SQ when you can do the same journey JFK-JNB in 15 hours on SA!!

                    Happy New year.

Actually - 10 hours is better in the FCL B than an FCT - at least you're not a prisoner with one miserable half baked effort at a duty free shop for company.

Actually I'm inclined to avoid opportunities to burn dosh especially with Duty Free... but I do accept your point.

If you wanna shop, don't do the FCT.

Well this wasn't by choice im using US Miles and going to the World Cup. There is absolutely no flights from the US to Europe to JNB so I have to go through SIN pretty much. It was either SQ or Turkish Air or Egyptair. I will gladly wont mind sitting on the plane longer then taking those other airlines.
