I hope that has not been taken from your blog without at least a credit acknowledging where it came from.

      An interesting read.

look at all those stops they made to Europe but this was before the 744.

I do remember the days ADL shared with Melbourne then finally from 1996 onwards SIA started giving the Adelaide passengers their own flight

Unfortunately, I spent an hour last night doing that list and posted this morning on the blog.

*sigh* Those were the days ...and to think there are only two flights at weekends nowadays. I definitely remember taking (half empty) 743s on this route too, with some lucky Y pax being seated in C, so I guess there may have been aircraft substitutes from time to time

Are you sure about this one? I didn't think the Super Bs could do LHR-SIN nonstop, it was all Big Tops... And I thought the additional frequencies (i.e. more than daily) came later than 1986... Oh well, my memory is clearly blurry!

              SIN - DXB - LHR - SIN 4 743

My first ever SQ flight was to KUL on an A310.

As a kid, I did SIN-CMB-DUBAI-ZURICH-HEATHROW in a 747. This was 1980-1981 I believe. Interesting how it turned into BRUSSELS... guess they started the BigTop and had enough traffic for the non-stops?

Apologies, earlier I forgot to highlight the source (website) whereby the information is taken off, so I am removing the content in this thread, I rather let another more sensible person to put up the content.

It's not that I'm not willing to let people re-post, but a simple copy-and-paste of the link is not that hard to do if you can copy everything and modify it.

It was the Big Top that flew LHR-SIN non stop before the introduction of the Megatop. However, from my understanding, The 742 has a slightly higher range than the 743. The 743 had a higher cruise speed of Mach 0.85 compared to previous versions, which had Mach 0.84.

How come Singapore - Medan is missing from the list? I remember clearly that Singapore - Medan was served by a combination of A310 and B757. By the way, my first ever SQ flight was back in 1980 when I flew Medan - Singapore.

Singapore - Kuantan? Wow...those were the days. I don't even know Kuantan has an International airport.

In some ways, air travel was a lot more fun when longhauls to Europe / US took 3-4 flight sectors...
