227 and 228 have always been my favourite flights into MEL. The Queen is dead. Long live the Queen!

So kind of means if you want the good firstclass seat you need to fly out at midnight.
If you are happy to pay for a suite, then it's the evening flight, or the 11am flight you will get the older first class without the bed.

Yes I know it's only a short flight but I am going to miss that 747...

SQ227/228 has also been my 'staple' when flying SQ. The A380 is probably 'better' but it's just not the same!

This leaves SQ237/238 as the only option for Saver/*A redemptions, which according to the 73A thread isn't going to be served by a refurbed craft anytime soon. I've hence booked my Easter trip on TG. At least TG has a flat bed... hopefully.
All opinions shared are my own, and are not necessarily those of my employer or any other organisation of which I'm affiliated to.

hi keith - u will be safe, the last 773 for TG is in for refurbishment now , so all 777's have angled flat beds now. so unless its a change to an older A330 or 747 (which would be a longshot) you will be ok.

Happy memories of my last 747 flight on SQ down to MEL back in May this year. You'll be fondly missed... it was my first/last time on an SQ 774 on the Upper Deck in J. I actually find it's easier to sleep in F on the 774's Skysuites than on the 77W F Diamond Plus...

sqdazz: TG's never safe because that equipment swap risk is always there!

Seems like you're comparing SQ227 with 308. For me, I'll sleep anytime better on 227 regardless of seat comfort

I didn't want to drag it off-topic, since this is a farewell thread... I expect the LARGE police to come shortly... I did SIN-MEL on 227 in May, and SIN-LHR few times on 308... LHR-SIN also, same plane

Good memories of all of 'em

Perhaps it's a good thing that you've never ever flown on a 747. Otherwise, I think you'd be inconsolable!

I am a bit sad as I know how much the 744 has meant to SQ and as my first flight ever with SQ was booked while the flight was still a 744 I was so excited to go on it... alas it has changed now...
Also ive never flown on a 744 before and I really do think planes are cooollll so was looking forward to that oppurtunity
