As the recent Jet-X released the 1:200 SQ 727, the banner "California Here We come" was painted. The real SQ 727 aircraft that I had seen was at Guam in the 80's, but not in HNL, SFO, or LAX...

It didn't. That was just the promo across the fleet. IIRC the first SQ service to LAX via HNL was by DC10-30.

Correction. First SQ service was to SFO, ala SQ001/002.

727s did not have the range to do those sectors to USA.

the 727s were strictly regional - the banner "California Here We come" is to advertise then that SIA will be launching its 1st US Flight - then to LAX using the DC-10-30s
