Am wondering when they sold the aircraft to UN, do they remove all SQ seats and upholstery, then install UN's own? Or they leave it just like that but remove all amenities and KrisWorld system?
For BI B772 they just removed the amenities. Kept Krisworld but rebranded it as BI's SkyShow.

It seems that we know of 12 777-200ERs and 4 777-300s leaving the fleet. That capacity is equivalent to 18 A330-300s. With the first 787-9s coming in 2013 or 2014, SQ will be tight for regional capacity over the next few years.

The 777 obviously can make profit on short distances given this route was one of the most profitable routes of the world until low cost competition was allowed. The fact is that competition has forced SQ to reduce capacity to Malaysia.
This has already happened before. BA used to fly 777s to both CDG and ORY. Then LCCs came along and the channel tunnel opened. They now stick to narrow bodies.

I'm confident SQ will still be flying regional 777s when the 787-9s start arriving in 2013 or 2014.

Nonstop services afford a fare premium compared to interrupted services. I don't think SQ will stop flying SIN-LAX/NYC nonstop. The 2013 model WhaleJet would allow SQ to carry about thrice the payload and slightly more than twice the cabin floor area for about 50% higher trip costs, compared to the A340-500.
