  • 380 Y seat question

Can somebody just clarify what TYPE of seating there is in Y on the A380?

What I mean is...have read/heard that they have the same type of seats that CX have in their new Y class, the ones that don't physically recline ...rather your seat slides forward, giving you more personal space and that way you dont get the person in front's seatback in your face.

However, I'm sure I've seen photos of the Y cabin in the 380 with seats that are reclined. So, which is it?

I know this is probably a trivial question but as I'm off in 4 weeks I just thought I 'd ask.

No, the SQ A380 doesn't have the fixed-shell capsule type seat that totally protects the space of the person behind you.

Rather, it both reclines and slides forward, so that the space of the person behind you is still moderately intruded into (but less than in old style 747 or 777 seats).

So, generally, it's more comfortable for the person behind.

The seats are exactly the same as those on the B773ERs, just slightly more pitch.

The A380 Y seats are 1" wider than the 77W.

            So the 77W seat is 18" ?
            Are you sure ?

Doesn't that mean we loose leg room instead? That will be a nightmare for long-legged species like myself!

Worse for me, it meant my neck got into an unnaturally vertical position when the seat slid forward.

Ok. I know why there was a diff. I sat in a normal row on the A380. On the 77W i sat on the emex row.
