SMS - SQ time change

I received a SMS on my mobile phone this morning from SQFltInfo:

SQFltInfo - Your flight SQ??? SIN-??? [date / time] is rescheduled to SQ??? SIN-??? [date / time]. Pls contact your travel agent earliest possible.

I can't remember receiving such a message before but that may just be because I don't fly SQ that often. Is this new ?

Yes, it's been there for a while, but IIRC you have to have ticked the check box (in your preferences) that you indeed want to receive SMS alerts. Or am I wrong on this?

Yes, you have to subscribe to it. Just got one where I had to make a call back to KUL for a 5 min time change.

I got a similar message for SQ 2 on Mar. 8th return, but I used my UA miles to redeem and booked via UA obviously, but they still found me.

I got SMS too today. My SIN-XXX flight is rescheduled 20min earlier. There was also a request in SMS to reply it by SMS typing YES1 to confirm flight change or in other cases to call Singapore Airlines office. Nice
