  • SQ Exploring Further Options Ex YVR

I see from other sites that SQ is currently negotiating with the Canadian Government for another intermediate stop other than ICN for their SIN/YVR flights.

Given that AC has announced that they will be ceasing their YVR-KIX route from 25 October is their any chance that SQ wil replace SIN-ICN-YVR with SIN-KIX-YVR or offer it as an alternative routing. Also if they did, any chance that a 77W could be deployed?

Wouldn't this also allow AC to code share on this flight?

In the end, the Canadian government's supposed ethos of fully Open Skies was more spin than substance, more technicalities regarding syntax than anything that would really benefit consumers.

Singapore does have one other intermediate stop now but it has been deemed that that is uneconomical.

Singapore Airlines is therefore still restricted to 3x in and out of ICN as Canada wouldn't give them more out of ICN as an intermediate.

Not impressed, but a step in the right direction, albeit a small one.

It's hypothetically possible that SQ might operate SIN-KIX-YVR 3x or 4x weekly with an AC codeshare, but there is no chance that SQ would operate a 777-300ER on that route. The only possibility given SQ's current fleet is the 777-200ER.

I agree with Singapore_Air that the Canadian government's statements about Open Skies appear vacuous.
