  • SQ to serve KPB?

    http://www.votpusk.ru/news.asp?msg=108453

This says that the Finance Ministers of Singapore and Ukraine met in January to discuss the establishment of direct air services, a visa-free regime, and economic cooperation.

Since SQ currently serve Moscow only via DXB, it seems unlikely that Kiev would get nonstop service anytime soon.

That will be good if it happens particularly visa-free entry will help provide trade between the two countries. There is lots of potential in Ukraine. I don't think any SQ flight will start anytime soon though.

Yes, visa-free entry would be a boost for both countries' economies.

I think that with TK joining Star Alliance, SQ will want to serve IST nonstop. SIN-IST-KBP might be possible. Alternatively, SIN-DXB-KBP after SIN-IST becomes nonstop.

I was trying to get a Russian visa and it is not easy as walking into an Embassy to apply for one. There is no urgent visa available and one still have to wait for 3 working days at the soonest excluding day of application.

Noted you are from Tiraspol and is it part of Moldavia or an independent country?

Tiraspol is the capital of Pridnestrovie, the largest country in Europe without diplomatic recognition. At no time in the last 800 years has it ever been part of an independent Moldova, though it was joined to Moldova temporarily by Stalin pursuant to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Moldova invaded in 1992, but were repelled.

Sorry to hear about the sufferings of Pridnestrovie. The citizens are very resilient.

Pridnestrovia has a 2500x40m runway at LUTR, but cannot cannot get rights to fly anywhere due to the lack of diplomatic recognition. One must drive to another country, either Moldova or Ukraine, to fly out of either KIV or ODS, respectively. ODS is more often chosen despite the greater distance due to the economic blockade imposed by Moldova and the ethnic cleansing (selling ethnic minority girls into forced prostitution abroad) practiced by the Moldovan government against their slavic (mostly Ukrainian) minorities.

BTW, Tiraspol is a great place to visit if you're looking for something a little bit off the beaten tourist path. The city is very green, quiet, and safe and the people are very nice. Everything is very inexpensive by western standards. It would be good to combine with a trip to Odessa.
