Not according to Airbus. Try 19 WhaleJets from 2 new customers so far this year as of the end of November.

Actually Verbal is right on the part about 4 new customers. Grupo Marsons, British Airways, Aerolineas Argentinas, and Air Comet are all new customers this year.
Such a way about you, My Singapore Girl. Wouldn't go away without you, My Singapore Girl.

Negative. BA and Grupo Marsans are not yet WhaleJet customers, as of the end of November. They have not signed contracts yet, though it is expected that someday they will. It is too early to count them as 2008 customers.

          27 September 2007

British Airways will buy 12 Airbus A380 aircraft as part of the airlines’ long term fleet modernisation. The announcement marks the first time British Airways has selected to introduce Airbus aircraft for the company’s long haul fleet. The decision vindicates Airbus’ product strategy. The A380 is a key part of the solution for sustainable growth and eco efficiency in air transportation."

That's four (4) new customers with 15 orders. Total new orders for this year stand at 35 so far. That some of them are not firmed up so far is irrelevant as they will be and show that you are really clutching at straws trying to make the Superjumbo look bad.

Actually the new customers are Aerolineas Argentinas, Air Comet, BA and Prince Al-Walid. Grupo Marsans is the group behind Aerolineas Argentinas and Air Comet. But there are four new customers.

The A380-900 has got to be the big seller for the A380 programme. The wings were designed with higher payload designs in mind, engines designed (using B777 technnology) are well beneath their potential. All you have to do is strengthen the structure. All you have to do is build it. The economics will make it even more attractive & serve its purporse to move in bulk so why not move as much as possible. Also, the stretch will provide the structural platform for other A380 models such as a A380-800F (if someone orders it again) & A380-800R for carriers like QANTAS & SQ. I reckon that airbus may even go on to build an A380-1000 in 15-20 years time when places really do choke up. Will SIA order them. Of course, the economics will be insanely tempting.

Of course SQ would, if it gets built. The skies are getting more liberal, but the airports aren't expanding fast enough in several key destinations.

And even if SQ reaches the unlikely scenario of not being able to full up those bigger planes, I bet it will offer those frills and extras such as boasting the biggest personal space ever to beat the competition while reducing the total number of seats per plane. This SQ has already done for the A345 and the A380.
