            Hi all

            Thanks for the warm welcome.

            I will be flying SIN-AKL.

Any ideas on the overload charges of this flight?

What I have heard from ppl is $25/kg.

                Checked Baggage - (Weight Concept)
20 kg * Baggage exceeding the 20 kg limit will be assessed an additional charge.

                Checked Baggage - (Piece Concept)

Two pieces, of baggage are allowed. The total dimension (length + width + height) of both pieces must not exceed 273 cm (107 in) and the outside linear dimensions of each bag must not exceed 158 cm (62 in.) The weight of each piece is limited to 32 kg.

I can understand the weight concept.

But for the piece concept, does that mean the max allowable weight is 64kg, since they said each piece is 32kg.

                I am slightly confused here.

The piece concept is valid for flights to/fro USA/Canada but each bag may not weight more than 32kg.

For SIN-AKL, the weight concept applies.

                  Hope this helps

Also, for flights to or from AKL, no single piece of baggage may exceed 32kg due to occupational health and safety regulations.

                    And welcome to SQTalk, Megatop.

                        I just called up SQ.

The lady told me its $51/kg for overload.

                        Oh no.

SIA gives a grace of 5kg per passenger for luggage.

How much baggage do you think you'll be attempting to check in on the actual day?

And remember that no matter how much SQ is going to charge you for excess baggage - your checked baggage cannot exceed 32kg per item.

You might want to look at shipping some of your stuff as cargo?

And remember that if you're on certain tickets, such as student fares, SQ allows a free 30kg checked baggage allowance upon supplying evidence supporting ** eligiblity.

                              I''ll try my best. 7kg + 20kg + 5kg = 32kg to work on.

                              Thanks!
