Singapore Airlines Flight Delays & Disruptions

Someone blasted SQ for not carrying enough fuel on SQ861 in the Chinese newspaper.
Those on SQ861 were only served drinks during the delay.
Slightly off topic, it was also reported AK1755 from Miri to Sin were also delayed. Suppose to land at Changi at 3pm but only land at 11pm after being diverted to Senai
Frankly speaking, I would think Changi Airport would have done better planning n maybe ask airline to retime certain flight in the first place.Last edited by sbs2716g; 16 November 2018, 09:14 PM.

Agree with sbs2716g that caas could have informed airlines of impending delays and have better planned this out. The impact on SQ on delays like this is immense. Passengers on the inbound flights have to rebooked and hotels have to be booked if the next flight is too late. The inbound's aircraft next flight is also delayed as well. The knock down effects are significant.
As Singapore's brand name further develops for international meetings, it's about time CAAS seriously considers making Paya Lebar airport as the de facto airport for VIP jets during meetings like this. This arrangement would greatly reduce the strain on Changi, at least until the third runway opens.
Another idea is to consider passengers to deboard from Paya lebar itself. Buses could be arranged for transiting passengers. Not the most ideal situation and lots of details have to be ironed out, but it beats sitting in an aircraft for 3 hours with just drinks for refreshment.

SQ26 FRA-JFK | 18NOV18 | 9V-SKN took off 4h24 behind schedule. SQ26 SIN-FRA (17NOV18) was actually operated by SKL and it had arrived on time. The plane must have gone tech. SKN was actually the one operating SQ25 JFK-FRA (17NOV18) and it’s heading straight back to JFK.
