  • What will the new SKL be like?

It's been widely rumoured that SQ is going to be revamping their homebase Silverkris including TPR.

Does anyone know what they're going to do with it?
Or at least when renovations are set to begin?

If I had to envision what my "dream" SKL would look like...
I think the SIN Silverkris would really stand out if they emulated what makes Changi Airport so pleasant.. indoor gardens. Changi is filled with them.

Perhaps, if SQ and MI moved all their operations to T3 and created one grand SKL with something of a "tropical oasis " theme with lots of natural light and a lush indoor garden or two, taking a leaf from what Project Jewel is supposed to feature, that would really stand out.

I have no clue about the economics of indoor gardens but I imagine it cant be too expensive in Changi, or they would at least benefit from scale. Of course it should have all the features expected of a homebase lounge like a wide array of food offerings that the current already features, a bar and slumberettes as well.
    *end of fantasy*

Unfortunately it's so overdue I wouldn't hold my breath.

I don't suppose the home away from home theme applies. All I hope is for a brighter layout. I find the current ones a bit dark.

Some of the renovated lounges overseas are now brighter. While it's still small the new BNE lounge seems nicer due to the high ceiling and brightness.

I hope SQ discovers this amazing thing called windows...

I doubt due to the location and position. It'll still be only TPR with access to views.

Yeah why does SQ have to be so infamous for having windowless lounges?! I really do wish they'd open them up a bit.

From what I've heard renovations should start in 2017/18, so could be quite a while.

I would really like to see:
            • Sleeping rooms
            • Ironing service/ shoe shine service
            • Massage/ spa
            • Luggage lockers/ storage area
            • More diverse 'zones', like those for socialising, dining, isolated relaxation, working etc.

Biggest thing for me is the sleeping rooms. Even the public areas of Changi Airport have sleeping chairs in isolated areas, and all the top lounges worldwide have nap rooms. Especially for those long layovers, having a nap room is super valuable.
            Fly well,
            Travel safe,
            And have a pleasant journey.
