  • Priority check in and immigration clearance

    Hi all,

I did asked one question in the PE thread, but I think I would like to ask for a little bit more if someone can assist with this:

I am currently Velocity Gold (Partner of SIA's Krisflyer) and I am traveling on Economy and Premium Economy.

    1. How can I get priority check in? For flights with Premium Economy will I be directed to check at Premium Economy and for those without can I check in at Business counters?

    2. What would I need in order to obtain lounge access with SIA with my VA Gold status?

    3. If I am travelling on Premium Economy with my Gold status, should I check at Business or Premium Economy counters (I am not using SIN as my originate airport on my SQ flights)

    4. For airports which provides priority immigration and customs clearance, such as LHR and SYD, who is eligible for it? If travelling on economy, will you get this because you are a Gold member of the partner airlines? And which cabin class(es) will enable you to have priority immigration and customs pass?

    5. If you have already recorded the membership number on the booking, do I still need to bring my membership card in order to receive priority baggage handling, or the ground staff would have already seen the membership number and act accordingly?

This is my first time flying with as a priority guest so I am not very sure about these. It will be good if someone here can answer!

    Thanks!

At airports outside Singapore, there should be specific PEY check-in counters.

At SIN, there is a separate check-in area for Krisflyer Gold and PEY (Combined queue). Lines there are usually very short.

For your Y flights, Velocity Gold gives you priority check-in on SQ, so I don't know for sure, but I would definitely try the J check-in counters outside Singapore, and either the KF Gold or J check-in counters in SIN.

VA Gold should get you into the SIA Silver Kris Lounge at overseas destinations. In SIN, you will be directed to the Krisflyer Gold Lounge, which is not as good as the Silver Kris Lounge at Changi. That said, I've not been bowled over by the Silver Kris Lounge in SIN either. A good lounge, but not a flagship home lounge like the CX or QF lounges at their home bases.

Flying PEY, I was pleasantly surprised to be handed a fast track card when flying into LHR.

As a Krisflyer Gold in Y, I never received a fast track. Similarly when flying into SYD as KF Gold, I never received a fast track card when flying Y.

Whenever checking in, I always provide my KF Gold membership card together with my passport. Invariably, they will say that the FF number is already in the system. Never hurts to play safe, though, as the missing miles claim process on any airline can be quite time consuming.
