hopefully by then, SQ should have most of its new planes and do not need to replace the 773s with 77Ws as the new regionals would be carryong more pax too than the current 773s.

The 773A provides F, which is apparently quite important to the nouveau riche of Southeast Asia, who fly F regionally and connect to Suites on the 779 or 380.
I guess it'd either that or a 787-10, and getting an F product certified for the 787 may be too much trouble. A denser J cabin may also help increase the amount of available seats - basically making J and Y capacity comparable with the A350 regional.Last edited by yuuka_miya; 1 July 2019, 10:01 AM.an infrastructure geek

Thus SQ has 67 A350s delivered and on order with 16 options left.

However, the 78X and the A359 are both shorter than the 773 so having F + a dense J cabin on those planes mean a reduction of overall capacity relative to the old 773s.
SQ could exercise some A350 options for a small subfleet of regional A35Ks for a one on one replacement of the 773As... or install regional Fs on a few of their upcoming order for 779s.

If my memory's correct, this spells the end for 772 long haul services at Singapore Airlines.

IST is currently the only long haul 772 route left, so this definitely does spell the end. According to SQ's figures, they will have retired all but one of the 772 long haul fleet by the end of March 2020.
