  • Difference in Business Class fares? C, D, J & Z..

    hi all,

    tried to search for this across a few forums but to no result.

    meant to ask, in terms of cost, are there any differences for the 4 main type of SQ Business Class fares? C, D, J & Z?

    Also, are the four different types of fares based on seat availability? which is cheapest and most expensive?

    TIA

    Yes, those are different fare buckets for Business Class with availability for the cheapest limited to a certain amount per flight then only the higher classes become available. Some people automatically book in the higher classes anyway as they give greater fliexibility for changes or cancellation.

      Thanks MAN.

      Can we choose which fare bucket we want? At least based on the website? do you know which fare type (of C D J Z) entails which level of flexibility?

      Appreciate e prompt response

        I might be wrong but I think it goes like this.

        Z=full fare.
        C=discounted
        J=more discount than C.
        D=the one with the biggest discount.

          You can choose whatever fare class if it is available in your market. Not all O/D markets have all fare types available. For example, SIN-LHR-SIN has all ZCJD fares while CGK-LHR-CGK has only ZC fares.

          Flexibility also depends on O/D.

            just played around with Expertflyer and the aforementioned information is absolutely right. Also true that for certain routes on certain dates, only certain fares are available, not because class D or J is sold out. Just because only C and Z are available.

            Thanks for the info guys !

              This classification may apply to SQ but may not be applicable for other airlines. See example. I'm sure those members here who are TA's can provide a more accurate answer.

                that's true. class fare Z is most expensive business class for SQ, but apparently cheapest for UA

                  It's a LOT more complex than that. Why sometimes certain fares don't appear even though there is inventory: Sometimes there are point of sale restrictions mean that it may not be sold in that direction. It's there for people returning to their original country/or as connector from some other country.

                    Some fares only show up for long haul flights. Very complex like you say.

                    Correct. Other airlines might use the same letters, but fare class could be different.
