NYC is more expensive, maybe around US$6k+ return. Still cheaper than Kyo's US$6,679 one-way

PM me if you're interested but I'll only reply to SQTalk regulars as I do not want SIA to contact me and plug this loophole!!

Just last month, the ticket price was even cheaper, at just US$4,000. And 2 years ago, they offered XX-Sin (stopover allowed)-HKG return on SQ First Class for just US$1,400!!
You mean lobang? The cheapest SQ itinerary I know with SIN-US West Coast is just a smidge over S$5k. That used to be the cheapest 22k+ Star Alliance EQMs I knew until I moved to Europe and found a few itineraries that could get 16-20k EQMs for at least S$1k less. And for the real MR purists amongst us, some of these could be done just over the weekend!

    I hope your super-secret loophole wasn't CMB

In fact, even without any effort in adjusting the dates, the first price I get for a random date in April for CMB-SIN-LAX r/t is USD5000 with free stopovers, and I'm sure there are cheaper dates when there are lower booking classes available. Free stopovers both directions. All on SQ.com

Having two daughters at university in Canada, the cancellation of the Vancouver flight was the first blow, and the second will be the cancellation of EWR, with the short connection to Montreal/Toronto.

Hopefully graduation will occur before the end of the flight

Just of SQ37 this AM. Flight was maybe 95% full meaning maybe 5 seats empty when walking the aisles. This is surely still relating to Christmas and New Years travels. Either way, I think the ones that will cry the most that LAX is stopping (not sure on EWR) must the the Indonesian community. It was like being on a flight to CGK in C or F.

I see LAX is being reduced pretty heavily in the run up to stopping completely.

Hence its better for SIA since its profitability have taken a steep dive to terminate these flights and also save on crewing that could be redeployed to its existing aircrafts earlier.
Flyguy, profitability may increase but their revenues may plunge. Without any new routes to replace that revenue, shareholders may take it out on the share price, something management doesn't want.

Furthermore as a pax, I certainly prefer flying this route a few more times before it goes for good.

Really love this mother of all long hauls, and just did one to and fro two weeks ago, but I'm not going to get sentimental and fly it just because ...
