  • SQ 26/25 to 77W in NW12; SQ 2/1 to A380?

    Hi guys,

Just saw this on Plane Talking.

I went to check airlineroute and the SIA Media Centre but no info on this so far.
    -------------------------------------------------
Singapore Airlines northern winter timetable changes effective 28 October include expanded A380 services to Hong Kong and Tokyo, and its introduction on its San Francisco flights, while in Australia it lifts Perth frequencies from triple daily medium sized wide bodies to four return flights a day.

    ......

The existing Singapore Airlines A380 service to New York via Frankfurt will be replaced by a lower capacity 777-300ER for at least the northern winter. The airline is also reducing capacity on flights to Milan, Barcelona and Istanbul and is cancelling Athens flights

    .......

    Can anyone verify this?

Yup, that's correct. Still waiting for the website to be updated with their press release though.

Press article already in The Straits Tines.

      ~source: http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking...ry_825602.html

...Singapore-Hong Kong-San Francisco will be served with the Airbus 380 superjumbo instead of the Boeing 777-300ER.

Interestingly, NH goes doubly daily to JFK from the same date....

That is very good news for all the people that used SQ's glitch after their change to Amadeus who booked awards on SQ 1 and SQ 2 and will now get Suites on top!

Plenty of Saver Awards still available... Book now!

Still applicable since they are using it to SFO.

I think this is the pragmatic thing to do i.e. moving from a380 to 77W, especially if the FRA-JFK loads are not high enough. Of course those in F will loose their Suites but I would rather "endure" J for 18 hours on the 350 than luxuriate in F for 22-23 hours ... sorry after writing that last line, it started to make less sense!

                          Man I can't take a trick. Both my 77W flights (SQ637 & SQ217) have now been swapped to A380

Booking still showing 77W. Guess that will be updated eventually.
