  • SIA's overall load factor dips to 70.2% in July

SINGAPORE : Singapore Airlines Group on Monday said it filled 70.2 per cent of the space available on its planes for passengers and cargo in July.

The figure, for Singapore Airlines (SIA), SilkAir and SIA Cargo, is slightly lower than the 70.6 per cent achieved in July of last year.

Its passenger load factor on Singapore Airlines dipped by 0.8 percentage point to 81.6 per cent last month.

SilkAir's passenger load factor increased 1.4 percentage points.

SIA's capacity grew by 5.5 per cent in July, against a 4.5 per cent increase in passenger carriage.

SIA's passenger load factors fell mainly on the Americas route region, where the growth in demand was outpaced by the increase in capacity.

SilkAir's passenger load factor on West Asia routes improved compared to the same month last year as market demand remained buoyant in India. However, on East Asia routes, the growth in demand did not keep pace with the capacity increase, resulting in a slight decline in the overall passenger load factor.

In addition, SIA Cargo's load factor improved by 1 percentage point to 65 per cent.

The cargo load factors increased for all regions, except for East Asia.
