  • SQ or TG?

    HI everyone

I am wondering between TG and SQ for the Business Class

    Bangkok (BKK)
    to Singapore Changi (SIN)

    SQ973

    Dep. 10:00
    Arr. 13:25
    Duration: 2h 25 min Aircraft: 772

    TG413

    Dep. 11:15
    Arr. 14:30
    Duration: 2h 15 min Aircraft: 777

    which flight should I choose?

    Please help me

    thank you

From what I know, TG has a better hard product as apposed to SQ's old 777 product. If you're travelling on your own budget, you'll find TG is usually cheaper. However, Thai's service and meal preparation can be hit and miss at times. I would go for TG.
The world's too large a place not to go wandering.

I would go for the one that suits your timing best.

If your top priority is service, the I would stick with SQ. With TG you may end up with an old AB6 even when it's scheduled to be a 777. They're infamous for swapping.

For SQ973, you would be guaranteed the old regional biz seat on the B772 while on TG413, TG often uses B772 but also with the odd A345/A346. Luckily TG seldom send the antiqued A300 down to SIN nowadays and so the seats on TG is highly guaranteed to be on the long-haul biz product (pray that it is not swapped with the A330 or non-retrofitted B744).

Or you may end up with a 777 when it's scheduled to be a 333 (like last Monday on an TG401)

honestly, the seats aren't a big deal on such a short flight - fine if you want to try them out because you've never tried a particular seat before - otherwise, the carrier/flight that gets you to where you want to go in the fastest and cheapest manner - is the one you should try

                  No chance of SV- series?

                    Correct.
There is not much different for such a 2 hours flight. I would go for the cheapest and reasonable airline. TG service is not bad.

In fact, SQ's old regional seats are well suited for a 2 hr flight

I'd go for TG ex-BKK. BKK Fasttrack and a 30-minute massage plus possibility of a retrofitted 744 (with request for F seating) is always nice. SQ's food and service is probably better. TG's timings also suit me far better than SQ's but that's down to individual preference.

Ex-SIN, without TG's superior ground experience, I'd prefer SQ, but their timings don't work for me.

The Guru has spoken . I didn't know we can request for F sitting on the 744 so always settled with Row 11 upstairs which I have found TG to be very accomodating.

Lounge wise, the only +ve ex BKK is the massage, which other than that I would trade it for SKL in BKK.

But if one is not really a sucker, I am sure anything will do for this under 2 hour flight. Having flown both SQ and TG, my personal experience is that it just leaves a J pax enough time to eat, that's all

Speaking of which, my travels are now evenly split between SQ for business and TG for leisure (doing BKK and HKT almost monthly running errands for my dad), which is a better FFP to credit miles into? Owing to history, I am leaning heavier on KF but will see myself on Thai more these days.

Neither, but KF is the lesser of the two evils, in my humble opinion... BD is by far more generous

I will be burning 50k miles to clock gold on TG ROP card, once done, then I will clock everything back into KF......

For 744 to Bkk, its a two class flight, so 1st Class seats are used for J too, btw, there are 14 of such seats.....
