A US Airways plane carrying 148 passengers has crashed in New York City's Hudson River and it is believed that everyone has survived the accident.
All passengers and up to six crew on the crashed Airbus are off and are believed to be alive, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Authority said.
"We just got a preliminary report that everyone is off the aircraft," the FAA's Laura Brown said, adding she "believed" that there were no deaths.
Passengers were seen standing on the wings of the plane to stay above water.
The plane was sinking in the icy waters and rescue crews opened the doors and were pulling passengers from the plane.
The US Airways Flight 1549 may have been hit by birds before it crashed in the river near 48th Street in New York city .
The plane flying from New York's LaGuardia airport to Charlotte, North Carolina had only been in the air for about three minutes before it went down about 3.26pm New York time

Awesome airmanship! Interesting to note that BA's 777 equally dramatic crash landing almost a year ago right to the date, also miraculously didn't result in any fatalities.
Surely, our pilot training programmes must be getting our pilots better trained!
