Oohh, I smell a sarong kebaya versus red hat veil fight!
Question is: will the battle be won on land or in the air?
Looking forward to this TR. Can almost hear the taikoo drums and khaleeji tablas sounding in anticipation
Not really a fair fight. Suites vs suites would have been the accurate measure, but couldn't afford it so this will have to do. Never flown two different carriers' A380's in the same day before.
Ps this TR dedicated to two dear SQTalkers now in BKK but too I'll to come out and play tonight. Get well soon ! You know who you are
IMO and recent back-to-back experience, SQ J ekes out a tight win against EK J. So I am supposing that EK F will pull off a TKO to this lower division opponent...

On this bird EK F naturally knocks out SQ J 30 seconds in. Against new SQ F fight got stopped 10 rounds in. Against SQ R it went down to the judges who haven't tallied up the score yet. Gonna be close I think. surprising to say the least but I'm getting to be a big EK fan.

Yesterday I got the chance to fly on two different A380's from two different operators. The first, was of course, the well known SQ offering - I'd bought this ticket ages ago, and figured it was about high time I used the coupon before it expired SIN-HKG as we know, is an A380 route for the 2nd flight of the day SQ856. The first, SQ860 departs about an hour or so earlier.
Sierra Kilo Golf will operate this morning, before returning to SIN in the evening at 1920hrs to be prepped up for a Euro run later in the night.
The flight is very full in Y, and in the boarding queue, I overhear agents discussing (discreetly I might add) that a QPP in a family of four is bypassed in favour of 2 solo KF Elite Golds for an op-up as they only needed two. Flight was showing 3/40/407 when it was open, and they had 6 no shows in Y.
This time of the year, SQ always has nice Christmas ornaments on the planes. I like
The familiar "new J" seat that's been "new" for 4 years and 13 days since first launched on the 77W to CDG.
I've flown with 2 of the crew onboard in J today - don't really remember where, although they look familiar. They come round with a nice glass of Apple Juice. Didn't know it at the time, but it'd be a long while till i got my next drink!
Turns out that it's a rather busy morning, and 02C/20C is closed. Oh well. STD is 09:40 and I've been onboard since 09:20
We push back at around 10:00 so I'm hopeful it won't be too long before we get airborne (have a lunch appointment in HKG!)
We pass younger sister (and equally large) Kilo Kilo on the way to 02L. Does my bum look big in this?
Also on her way to 02L is Papa Papa operating Singapore 12. Lots of fond fond memories on this bird. Easily one of the most famous 744's SQ's have had alongside Mike Uniform.
Also in the queue, QANTAS's Quebec Delta "Fergus McMaster" - glad to see their fleet up and about too.
So Lots of heavies the queue for take off.
We pull up to one of the taxiways..... and sit and wait for a long time. SPP has seen better days, as she waits in the other taxiway to our port side.
Being in 14A I can see out, and the captain comes on and announces that we're to hold here for a few arriving planes. Looking out left, i can see very small dots, and they look like they're on very long finals. I'm sure we could have gone, but departing A380 wake turbulence is not to be scoffed at.
Turns out there were three birds in line...
This
This
and this....
Go Malaysia! Can understand why we had to hold so long now. 2 departing A380's and a 744 would have made a really rough ride in for the tiny ATR.
Finally at 10:26 we turn onto the active and go for it
Fall asleep for a bit - wake up in time for descent
The Trent twins on this side humming along nicely. No holes in leading edge? Check. No pipes severed? Check. No bombing of Indonesian soil with metal parts? Check. All is well then!
R and some J pax have arrived in HKG. Most Y pax still abeam of Manila.
We're wheels on ground at 1:45pm - so 20 minutes behind the clock! Now, to sprint and try to get through Immigration as quick as possible!
