  • LH ITALIA - From MXP to LHR

Service is absolutely comparable to BA.

Check-in was very efficient and the fast track for SENs was a nice surprise.
Unfortunately the lounge is located in pier A, but flights to London leave from Pier B, so the lounge is quite far from the gate area.

The aircraft are new and the ambience is nice, typically LH-Style.

Seat is comfortable and quite wide. The cushion on the seat is smtgh difficult to find nowadays on a flight so short.

Catering is ok, but nothing special.
Definitely better than AZ. Slightly worse than BA (before the massive changes)

Load factor is still a problem. C was totally empty (remember this flight is not a feeder flight), while Y was 70% full.

Finally, flight was on time and baggage was already waiting for me at the carousel.

All in all, a good flight.
There's only One way to fly.... SINGAPORE AIRLINES!
If SQ is too expensive, the other way to fly is Qatar Airways

Great report! I flew LHR-MXP-LHR last week, and reported back on the bmi forum in Flyertalk (well, it is a bmi aircraft for 3 out of the 4 daily rotations)

Slight differences though... Both my flights were nearly full in Y and had some C pax (about 13-14 on the way back to LHR) - in fact, I was in C because of their offer ex-LHR (free upgrade to C subject to availability for all Y fares >GBP250 - great offer!). C service is pretty good - also on a par with BA - the food is probably a bit nicer

Oh, and there is a lounge above the non-Schengen gates at MXP - it's the shared/Alitalia lounge, but LH Italia pax get access - don't need to go to the main LH lounge

Sorry but I can't, I really can't call that awful space "lounge".
It's probably the worst place I've ever been during a Trip.
      =)

Molto Bene my friend Looks like they have kept the product homogenous to a large extent.

A bit different than say Thai Air Asia, Indonesia Air Asia and Air Asia (malaysia) - who don't actually look like they're quite in sync yet

Indeed. The only hints you'll see of LH Italia vs. vanilla LH is the Italian flag-motif stripe you see on places like headrest covers and (in the case of Y) the paper snack tray.

However, my flight was operated by a BMI aircraft (Strangely with LH Italia seats) and BMI crew in a strange mix-mash of identities.

Great report! Also on my flights MXP-LIS and LIS-MXP the biz was empty and the economy 60% and 90%...

Very Nice TR Luke - The planes do look very nice... nicer than the junk LH flies out of BHX
