Fully agree with you SQflyer girl...the seats is indeed comfortable despite a

They probably should be training them in econ first...which is a norm right?

That's an anomaly. So far for years already, when taking LH F, I remember I did get the red rose always. (Unless my old brain gone awol )

                Isn't this kind of obvious?

Would you expect a newbie SQ boy or SQ girl to serve the Krug and Dom in First Class?

But everyone has a first day in their new position. A checkin agent, and an FA, may sometimes find that their training didn't quite prepare them for the real-time demands of the processes in their new job, on that first day.

Yes, but my point is that those for whom it is the first day on the job should not be facing premium customers - handling premium customers should be done with efficiency, not a random stab in the dark and having to make people wait around while they summon help from a more experienced agent.

I thought the implication from the OP's post was that the agent was very inexperienced - which shouldn't be the case when manning a F-class counter.

Hmmm... This was the quotation from the OP, as far as I can see:

It could mean the checkin agent was unfamiliar with 1st class procedures. So it could have merely been her first time at the 1st class counter. I've certainly run across agents who were new to Business Class and First Class procedures, and I could tell from their questions that they were a bit confused compared to Economy Class procedures. I didn't necessarily assume they were fresh on the job, however. IME, the senior agents tend to hang around the more inexperienced staff just for that reason.

It's a transition all agents have to make, and occasionally we're at the counter at the time that they're making that transition. How much time have I expended 'wait[ing] around while they summon help from a more experienced agent'? Not very much, really.

SQ has its own rules when SQ boy or girl can work in J or F.
I have a friend who works at other airline, he was new, and he has worked in F cabin already.

Perhaps there is other factor. For example, I checked in at Changi T2 for a shuttle flight to KL. It was an early morning. But due to the message that appeared on the screen when the agent checked me in, my wait was longer. He had to seek his supervisor. I know the guy is not a first timer working at the counter. He asked the other agents first before went to look for the supervisor.

Agreed with you stargold...a lot of airlines actually set a very high standards right from the check in counters till you are up in the air - especially on J & F...therefore, making the pax feel more priority all the way through...
