  • An interesting thing about the row 11 bulkhead seats on this A380 configuration: The window-side seats (11A and 11K) still had a cubby hole for the feet, rather than a full-width foot well.

Only the middle bulkhead seats, 11D and 11F, the so-called "double-bed" seats, had full-width foot wells.

That said, looking at the picture above, you could see that the double bed didn't extend all the way to the end of the seat. There was a still a partition between the two seats near the base.

        December Krisworld selections...

There were new local programmes, including short segments such as "Cocktail Conversations"...

...and "From Book to Cook", which showcased recipes from Singapore's past...

        • More champagne after take-off...

Next came satay...I was really looking forward to this...somehow satay always tastes so good inflight...

I plugged in the noise-cancelling headphones that were provided at each seat...the sound quality of these headphones was really good.

I also appreciated the small hook to hang the headphones when they were not in use.

          • The bathrooms onboard the aircraft were quite elegant...

            Penhaligon's toiletries...

Some amenities, such as toothbrushes and shavers, were available in the washroom...

Others were available on request, and listed in, of all places, the business class menu...

            • Back at my seat, I took the opportunity to put on the fabric seat cover. I think this was meant to be used as a "bedsheet" for sleeping, but it was quite comfortable when used in seated position too.

              • I browsed the menu...

                First up was lunch...

There would then be a selection of snacks / delectables, served on request during the flight...

Next, a selection of bread from the basket...

I thought the starter of roast beef, leek-potato mash was quite delicious...

I particulary enjoyed the quails eggs...

For my main, I had pre-selected the lamb tagine...

...which I paired with the Clarendelle red from Bordeaux...

This was a tasty dish, with tender lamb in a rich, savoury sauce...

                  • At that point, Mrs yflyer came by to say hi. She had a Champagne glass in hand, and was carrying a small dish of caviar...

"Here's some caviar for you!," she said, with a big grin...

                    How sweet...

She was followed soon after by J, the warm and personable cabin crew member & sommelier, who was taking care of Suites that day.

"Here is some champagne for you, sir!" he said, as he handed me a glass of bubbly. Evidently having your spouse in Suites had its privileges!

Needless to say, the mouthful of caviar, with all trimmings, really hit the spot. I washed it all down with Champagne.

And what Champagne was it? It was Dom Perignon!

While SQ had recently announced that they were no longer serving Dom onboard their flights, there were evidently still some bottles available, and we were fortunate to have one of the few remaining bottles on this flight.

J was a great sommelier, and encouraged Mrs yflyer to sample all the different champagnes onboard, and she was only too happy to do so...

                    • Mrs yflyer headed back to her Suite, while I continued with cheese and dessert...

I had asked for a glass of Port to go with my cheese. When I asked what kind of Port it was, expecting it to be Kopke, as stated on the menu, they said that they didn't have any Kopke onboard, so they had, instead, poured me the Grahams 20 year Port from the Suites menu...wow...

Dessert was Choux pastry filled with poppy cream...

                      Very tasty!

                      • 2 hours and 40 minutes into the flight, we were over Turkey, close to Ankara...

By then, the sun was starting to set...

I reclined the seat into bed mode...

This bed went fully flat at the touch of a button...

Apart from the cloth seat cover, each J pax was also provided with a large fully pillow, and a soft duvet...

There was ample length to stretch out...

Just for reference, here are pics of the bulkhead middle seats, the so-called "double beds", which have a full-width cubby hole in front...

You can clearly see the additional foot space to stretch out in 11F or 11D.

That said, I found the foot space in the 11K cubby hole perfectly fine, and of course, I had a window view, which 11F did not have.

                        I lay down to rest...

                        • I woke up some time later, with about 6 hours left to run on this flight. I felt peckish, and ordered a bowl of noodles, along with a G&T...

This came nicely presented in a covered bowl, along with sliced chilli and soya sauce...thumbs up!

                          Yum, this was very good...

After polishing off the noodles, I watched a little TV before drifting off to sleep once again...

                          • Two hours prior to arrival, the cabin lights came on...

It was time for breakfast. By then, we were over the Andaman Sea, not far from Singapore...

Breakfast began with fruit and a choice of bread or croissants....

I had pre-ordered the BTC selection of Thai beef noodle soup...

This looked really appetising, though upon tasting it, I thought it wasn't as hot as I would have liked, temperature-wise...

That said, it was a tasty dish, which I enjoyed.

                            • Up tlll that point in the flight, I had shown admirable restraint, and had not gone up front to visit Mrs yflyer in her Suite.

Now that cabin service was more-or-less over, and just an hour or so of the flight remaining, I decided to pay her a visit.

I headed through the curtains, into the galley area between Business and Suites.

"Hello! I'm just going to visit my wife in 1F!" I said.

"Of course! This way, Mr yflyer!" the cabin crew replied, and escorted me to her Suite.

Mrs yflyer was lounging in her seat, and looked very relaxed and comfortable when I popped my head in.

"How was your flight?" I asked.

She had a great flight, and had taken lots of photos too...

Turning back the clock to the start of the flight, this was her experience in Suites...

                              • Her Suite was 1F...

This was the first row of the upper deck.

Just ahead, the tall staircase leading to the lower deck.

She stepped into the Suite, and marvelled at the space available to her...

Mrs yflyer liked that the cupboard by the door was large enough to fit coats...

...as well as her carry-on bag...

Mirror on the inside of the cupboard door....

There was a console / side table...

She relaxed into the large, comfy lounger...
