Oh yes, you can request the service with the folks at the lounge. Very handy especially for far gates or when you just want to arrive at your gate comfortably

Finally, it's time for the Kyo Kaiseki on SQ but first, a glass of Dom Perignon 2003

        and Singapore Kris Sling:
One of our special touches made with gin, Cointreau, orange juice and pineapple juice, topped with Champagne

Here's the full menu for the NRT-SIN trip and as I mentioned in the earlier post, most of the dishes were the same as the BTC, except for the Wagyu Beef that was in the ealier menu and perhaps the dessert (which I didn't order for the NRT-SIN trip).

        ICHINO-ZEN
        Sakizuke
Broad bean, hamaguri, sea bream skin
        with umadashi jelly
Squid, udo, bamboo shoot tossed with kinome dressing
Marinated prawn tartar, tonburi (seeds of summer cypress)
        Mukouzuke
Hot oil blanched Tasmanian salmon-trout, wasabi, yuzu, chilli peppers, baby leaf, soya-egg yolk dressing

I also ordered the Chinese soup
        SOUP
Double-boiled pork soup with wild mushroom, long cabbage and conpoy

        OSHINOGI
        Cha soba with garnishes
Conger eel bo-sushi, mustard flavoured nabana
        Plum jelly, lily bulb

        NINO-ZEN
        Yakimono
Glazed chicken with leek crust with hot chilli sauce, vinegared lotus root,
grilled halibut with sea-urchin, skewered cucumber and mashed egg yolk
        sushi
        Gohan
Steamed rice with bamboo shoot and peas
Clear soup with mugwort bean curd, bamboo shoots
        Assorted pickles

        MIZUHASHI
Pumpkin cheese cake with Sakura ice cream

This photo is probably not for the above dessert!

        FINALE
Belgium chocolate mousse with passionfruit sorbet,
fresh fruit salad and vanilla sauce

And to round-up the evening, I ordered a cup of Jamaican Blue Mountain:

Overall, it was a very fruitful trip, having tried the F-seats on CX and SQ as well as tasted the Kyo-Kaiseki meals on both airlines. In terms of presentation and taste, CX's Kaiseki came up on top and I won't hesitate to try it again (perhaps in June). In terms of overall service, the SQ Suites experience on SQ11 was excellent, with passionate and enthusiastic crew! I may also go on another Suites trip (this time the longer journey on LAX-NRT-SIN) in early August 2013.

That will end the trip report and I hope you have enjoyed the photos as much as I did taking them

          Nice report!

Although you mentioned the CX Kaiseki was better, how did you find the SQ Kaiseki? The Kaiseki pictures on SQ look very good...

            Thanks yflyer

If CX is 9/10, then, I would give SQ's Kaiseki 8/10. I don't really like the salmon-trout they served as the first-course.

The main course on CX (prawn) was also better than the chicken and grilled halibut served on SQ.

In fact, the Kaiseki that I had on my previous experience (way back in September 2009) when travelling on NRT-SIN (on the now retired SkySuite) was also better.

So you're saying SQ ex-NRT and ex-SIN were basically the same?!?

In terms of Kaiseki meals, the Kyo Kaiseki served ex-NRT and the one from BTC ex-SIN are basically the same, except for one extra dish (the Wagyu Beef) and the dessert could be different too (since I didn't order the dessert ex-NRT).

Thank you very much for your wonderful TR, YK@HKG.

I enjoyed a lot, especially I have booked my first time ever A380 F in May and ordered Kyo Kaiseki from BTC as I have not managed to try Hanakoireki in Bz class yet. Your TR is just a perfect timing for me

                  OSHINOGI
                  Cha soba with garnishes
Conger eel bo-sushi, mustard flavoured nabana
                  Plum jelly, lily bulb

Just out of curiosity, how the (baby) octopus was cooked in Oshinogi?

Thanks sushiinSYD for your comments I hope that you will enjoy your upcoming trip in A380 Suites. Will it be SIN-NRT (or NRT-SIN) also?

Hmm....that's a good question. Honestly, I don't really know how the octopus was cooked It's not raw for sure.

As there is no F in SIN/FUK sector, it would be SYD/SIN. Actually, I am hoping that I will be able to get Hanakoireki FUK/SIN and Kaiseki SIN/SYD, so I can compare both of them

In that case you definitely need to BTC the Kyo Kaiseki for SIN-SYD route.

I have yet to try the Hanakoireki....perhaps sometime in the future.

Interesting as I've always been advised by crew to avoid the seafood ex-SIN.

Why avoid seafood ex-SIN? I thought the Lobster Thermidor ex-SIN is a favorite among SQTalkers?
