  • cheapest ticket to KUL/SIN in Jul/Aug09?

    Hello Everyone,

I am trying to help a 21 yo law student planning to travel to Malaysia from July 16th to approx August 26th 2009.

The departure should be from any of these airport: FRA, DUS, AMS, CGN. BRU, CDG, or anything closeby.

    - Are there special fares for students under 25?

    - Any specific time when you would suggest doing the booking? At present cheapest I found is Qatar flight for 712 Euro.

    - Landing in Singapore ia also an option to be combined then with the bus to KUL.

Any useful feedback will be welcome.

As a starting point, shouldn't him/her go to (say) STA Travel and ask ?

S/he should of course bear in mind that starting from "FRA, DUS, AMS, CGN. BRU, CDG, or anything closeby" is fine but it'll cost to get there and back.

From SIN-KUL - forget the bus. In precisely 2 hours 34 AK will open up 500,000 free seats, free fuel surcharge. Only pay for airport taxes

And upon landing in KUL's LCCT, to save money, they will end up on the bus...

Take a Tiger Airways flight from SIN-KUL if you decide to fly into SIN, cost you as low as $30 one way, because you still have to make your way to the places to board the busses (Beach Road or certain hotels), and can be slightly inconvenient if you don't know your way around and the bus timings.

A trip on a bus to KL is not too bad idea, it will take about the same time to fly to KL, i.e plus the waiting, land transfer etc.... see here...

JetStar's ad today says $33 and you don't have to worry about LCC Terminals PLUS have the advantage of assigning your seat during booking.

I conclude with the others, by the time you get to an airport, check-in, wait fly, get bags etc. it can be quicker taking a bus. It is roughly 6hrs by bus from SG to KL, or at least the schedule i took via the Second Link.

There is a meal included, a toilet (a mid-way stop anyway) and In-Seat Entertainment. Some come with in-seat power and i know one that has a little meeting room and conference table downstairs (with power) that is not pre-bookable as only the seats upstairs are sold.

Bear in mind as well it can take an hour from KLIA to KL by bus/taxi anyway.

I drive the trip in 3-3.5hrs out of peak times so for me flying is a total waste of time though not the cheapest after having to pay an additional RM50 toll somewhere on the way.

Thanks everybody - maybe my title was slightly unclear: the main concern is the part of the flight from Europe to either SIN or KUL.

The info you provided on the eventual SIN - KUL leg is very useful though.
