  • Peanuts and the LPPS's Wife

Recently, met an ex-SQ Staff who used to worked in the PPS Ticketing office in Paragon, Singapore. He related to me an incident that he witnessed the wife of LPPS visiting that office.

Apparently, the intent of the visit was not related to her ticketing but to obtain free packs of peanuts to takeaway from the waiting area rather than purchasing from the supermarket downstairs.

If true, it seems to me to be a real "cheapo".

I've seen two Italian women come in with massive handbags, and proceed to empty the drink fridge of every single can except for Diet Coke

My story is not related to cheapness but:

I was volunteering at a charity fund raiser to raise money for the Borneo rainforest on campus. I was cooking hotdogs and selling pop/soda. Our pop/soda choices were coke and diet coke. This lady comes up and wants to buy a pop/soda to help out, I was glad for that. But when i said the choices she said ew diet coke has aspartame, causes cancer and she walks away. But the parody is she was holding a cigarette while walking away. The question is, in scientific literature what is likely to cause cancer faster? A cigarette or aspartame?

*note Aspartame has not been proven yet as a carcinogen.

Oh, there must be millions of these storys. For example I know a guy who does the housekeeping at the local tennis club. Some members (no, they ain't that poor!) often come there not to play but to shower...
There are also people who always fill canisters with water when they are at the morgue and than carry them home to water their garden- and water is really cheap where I live.

I don't think it's got to do with a need for these things but rather with being greedy.
Capslock is cruise control for cool... not!

Bwahaha! Thats just like my roommate - he won't drink Diet Coke because he says the Aspartame causes cancer, but he won't mind lighting up every now and then.

There is a Hokkien saying in Singapore: The richer you are, the more giam you get.

There is another Hokkien saying in Singapore: The richer you are, the more "hao lian" you get. 'Hao Lian" = Show Off in English.

The two will gel together to form More Giam (Stingy and Calculative) and More Hao Lian in direct proportion to how rich you have became. Witnessed this many things over in my short life time.
