    Friend of mine who for the American Express in Hong Kong, now they are offering the latest Titanium Card which is more prestige than the Black Card.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centurion_Card

    A new Centurion card crafted from anodized titanium[2] was issued as a replacement for all plastic U.S. Centurion cards in the first half of 2006, with the titanium version being rolled out to certain other countries as well.

    Travel Benefits Include Enrollment In:

    * Continental OnePass® Gold Elite
    * Delta Air Lines SkyMiles® Gold Medallion®
    * US Airways Dividend Miles® Platinum Preferred
    * Virgin Atlantic Airways Flying Club Gold
    * American Airlines AAdvantage Elite (level not yet announced)
    What about other countries? Have you seen they used Titanium Card for shopping? I had seen it in Hong Kong & the states before...

      I think it is not a 'new' level of more prestigious card. It is the same Centurion card, but physically it was changed from plastic to titanium. The titanium card looks really cool.

      As far as I know, the benefits for Platinum/Centurion cards are country specific. For example, a Platinum cardmember based in Singapore can't make use of the free F/C class companion ticket program from AmEx USA. Same thing re the free (hotel/airline) club memberships that come with the Centurion card. Again, AFAIK, these are negotiated by the local AmEx.

        The malaysian version mighn't necessarily be exotic cars like you mention, nor music quite that highbrow.....

        They'd probably be listening to La Bouche or 20 Fingers

        Cringeworthy music.........

            Amex Centurion

            I was an Amex Centurion member for a year but opted out and reverted to Platinum when the annual renewal fee for Centurion was increased to A$4000plus. The benefits and privileges over and above what is available as an Amex Platinum card holder are not even close to being worth the annual fee. Also, the metal card sets off security alarms at airports!

              Ouch! In the UK the annual fee is about £700. It was introduced in the UK first, and I was chosen as one of the few "Charter Members" - the very first tranche that were ever distributed. You get a special marking in the card that no-one else gets.

              To be honest in the UK the benefits are marginal for me considering the annual fee. In general, lounge access is granted because of the class I'm travelling anyway, but there are some odd Y only flights on some more esoteric airlines where the lounge access works. Equally, sometimes it doesn't work when there's no lounge at a strange airport.

              The hotel upgrades can be superb - I've had some real fun with that, but I think you get that with a Platinum card anyway.

              You don't get a titanium card in the UK - yet.

              Benefits differ significantly depending on your country.

              When it first came out I found it had an awful lot of cred, especially when I used it in Australia and the US. In particular, walking into serious designer stores when on vacation wearing shorts and singlet in hot climates often receives a snooty reaction, until they see the colour of your money.

              These days, the Centurion card is no longer a head-turner.

              Cheers, Howard

                In the UK, unless you really want to exercise some of the invitation-only benefits, then I think the Platinum Card makes more sense. I downgraded from Centurion last year and haven't noticed the difference: much the same benefits in terms of travel insurance, CDW for rental cars and lounge access via Priority Pass.
